[62] - Bodmin, Search


28th December 2009 at 12:30 hrs

We were called to assist police locate a vulnerable woman missing from the Bodmin area. 4 possible areas were identified but as team members were on route, news came through that she had been located in one of the areas.

 

[61] - Godolphin Bridges, Major Incident


22nd December 2009 at 10:45 hrs


Our Landrover Ambulance and several team members were requested by ambulance control to attend an incident near Townsend, in West Cornwall, where a coach with 50 passengers had left the road in icy conditions. On arrival, we were tasked to assist with escorting casualties from the holding area to Navy & Air Force helicopters (R193 & R169) for transportation to hospital at Treliske.

Our thoughts are with the injured and the bereaved at this difficult time.

[60] - Awliscombe, Devon, SARDA Search


18th December 2009 at  1845 hrs

Team SARDA dog handler Shaun and his dog Tigger were called with other SARDA dog teams from around the region to assist Exmoor SRT with a search for a missing elderly man in the Honiton area. He was located and evacuated by members of Exmoor SRT.

 

[59] - St Austell, Search


16th December 2009 at 00:20 hrs

Call out to search for an elderly confused male around St Austell. The team stood down at 0300 hrs and prepared for an early call out at first liight, however the male was located at 7am and taken to hospital.

 

[58] - Hessenford, nr Torpoint, Water Incident


28th November 2009 at 20:30 hrs

The police requested the team to attend a water incident on the River Seaton. One woman had been swept away in the river towards Seaton with the possibility that there was another person also in the water. Whilst the team were en route both persons were recovered by the police and fire service who were already in attendance. 

The team was requested however to continue to stand by at the incident site until the area was clear of all casualties and rescuers. Rescue 193 airlifted the female casualty to Derriford hospital, and the male was unhurt. The team were able to send bank team and swiftwater rescue trained members to this incident which was stood down at around 22:00 hrs.

Team nominated for Saints Award

Cornwall Search and Rescue Team is proud to have been shortlisted to the final three community groups for the Saints Award.

The Saints Awards recognises people and groups living and working within the PL22 to PL26 postcode who make St Austell and its surrounding areas special. The team, which is based in St Dennis has been nominated in the Community Groups category - which celebrates the contribution to the local community by an organisation.

 

CSRT which is a registered charity, responds to call outs from the police, fire and ambulance services across the county for missing and injured people, last year being called to 39 incidents. Since being founded in 2003, the team has been called to around 380 incidents, ranging from missing children to major weather events.
