[59] - Fraddon, RTC

Saturday 18th December 2010 at 02:30 hrs

Whilst returning from the previous call out, a vehicle was spotted on the side of the A30 dual carriageway at Highgate Hill, having seemingly slid off in to the verge in the very poor driving conditions. The team Land Rover went to check to ensure all was well and located a male who had been trapped in his vehicle having collided half an hour earlier with .a road sign.

With extremely cold conditions and suspected chest and spinal injuries, team members insulated the driver and immobilisied him from further injury. Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service used cutting gear to evacuate the casualty and care was handed over to members of the ambulance service.

We wish the driver a speedy recovery.
